"I'm going home, back to the place where I belong. "
- Chris Daughtry
I leave India in 9 and a half hours. I have a 15 and a half hour flight to Chicago, a 4 hour layover, and a 2 and a half hour flight to Austin. I then have a 40 minute drive to San Marcos. I will be traveling for almost 23 hours, but will gain ten and a half hours with the time change. So I leave Delhi Friday at midnight and arrive in Texas around lunch time on Saturday. Hopefully I will sleep on the plane. Otherwise I will have a hard time adjusting to the time difference.
I can't wait to see my husband and my baby boy Winston.
Overall, India has been great. It was a great experience to "live" here for a month and I'm grateful for the opportunity. I saw a lot of neat things and had a lot of new experiences. The highlights were my coworkers, the Taj Mahal, the jeep safari, Amber Fort, and the shopping. The low points were traveling by train and getting scammed a lot. I will never forget this trip of a lifetime where I saw a culture that is completely different from my culture.
Prior to this trip I knew I was lucky to be born in America, but I have now seen why first hand. We have so much that others don't have. I don't just mean that we have food, shelter, money for luxury items, etc. We live in a country with order, reliable electricity, clean water, decent public education, a fair government, where every American has an opportunity to be what they want to be. So many things that we view as basic rights or entitlements are things that other people do not have. We are very blessed to be American citizens.
I'm coming home.
